A lovely Japanese Geisha in full ceremonial kimono stands at the center front of this pretty bag. She is an image transfer onto fine cotton cloth appliqued onto the "Uchiwa" (fans) fabric of the bag. The fabric on the front is from Alexander Henry, whose Asian prints are without equal in my opinion. The back of the bag is tiny white pindots on black heavyweight twill with a swatch of pockets made from palest pink quilter's cotton covered with rows of Japanese calligraphy in black and red. The lining is black quilted cotton with multiple pockets of the Asian fabrics, including two pen pockets that would also do to carry those tiny reading glasses.

I embellished the Geisha panel with an edging of hand-dyed silk ribbon topped with matching hand-dyed fiber & ribbon braid, all stitched with a multicolored thread that blends with the colors in the ribbons. I then added a tassel of the same fibers & ribbons, two red metallic-backed buttons, a tiny red glass flower bead, a string of glass flower cap beads tipped with a beautiful round teal glass bead, a brass bead cap with another clear teal glass bead, and a tiny brass swallow that has been patinated to look like antique copper. Since that still wasn't enough, I hand-embroidered the Geisha's fan, parts of her obi sash and various other places on the image. Only then was I satisfied that it had enough glorious trimmings to make any lover of these altered art bags smile.

This tote measures 15 inches wide, stands 9 inches tall, is 3" deep front-to-back, and the comfy straps fall slightly over 10" from the shoulder. The bag fastens utilizing a quilted fabric tab over a vintage red textured lucite button. This bag is roomy enough to use as a marketing tote, or to double for a briefcase. Many of my bags are in use as extra fancy knitting or crocheting bags, or to carry books and papers to church, meetings or classes. I'm sure you have the perfect use in mind for it. It's one of a kind.

All my totes are fully interlined with fusible fleece for stability and that luxury feel. Unless otherwise stated, they are lined with diamond-quilted cotton in a coordinating color and have multiple inner and outer pockets.
